Ann Garrard opened the meeting and welcomed new people:

Harriett Able, June Ray, Carol Thomas, Alice Logan and Pat Stanley

Thanks to Susan Austin for the room set up and to Lois Thompson for the check-in list of members and sending out emails. Please make sure Lois has you email address.

The next meeting will be on the regular day, the third Thursday, May 19. (that is pretty soon!)

Our treasurer has $51.00 in the treasury.

Mary Griffith donated a broom which was noted as needed at the last meeting.

Thank you To Sally Shockey for the new display in the Magnolia Place Library. Jean Fortune made the title cards for the display, Thank you.

Donna Johnston will have another Hand Painted Bird House class. Sign up with her tonight. Classes will be offered in May:  Thursdays May 12, 19, and 26th, with a Monday May 23 to make 4 afternoon classes. Another style birdhouse for this class will be furnished along with the paint. The cost of the class is $20 to pay for supplies. Class is limited so sign up with Donna Johnston, CT 220 now.

At the last meeting interest was shown in a beginning drawing class. Donna Johnston is asking for those that are interested to let her know and she will make it happen. It will be scheduled once or twice a week as soon as the room is available, hopefully in June or July. Class size will be limited, and supplies will be furnished at cost.

A Bee Healthy conference is to be offered this coming October. Donna Johnston suggested a Bee Creative table should be included as creativity is vital for good Mental Health.  She has plans for a table to show some possibilities. It was also suggested that a working art lab could be happening at the same time. Folks could come in and see what the artists have to offer.  If you are interested in helping with printing, collaging or other creative activity, talk to Donna Johnston.

Jan Dame reported that Sue White would be emptying the display case outside the Art Gallery by 3:00 on May 1’st. Please pick up your art pieces after 3:00. The next display will be going up on Sunday and will be taken down on May 31st. The June theme for the display case will be weddings, the July theme will be Mickey Mouse so dig out those mouse ears.

On May 9th Wanda Mann will change out the hallway gallery. Pieces by Tom Naylor, Susan Williams and Jan Dame have been on display and will be moved to Magnolia Place.  Leon Harp, Ray Baldwin and Deborah Hooper Campbell are the new artists in the Hillcrest Hallway Gallery.  If you are interested in displaying one of your works in the hallway, they must have D rings on back connected by wire to hang the piece.

Go by the Magnolia library and look at the wonderful bird houses painted in the last workshop.

Also on display in the library are books with pages folded, you need to go see It!!
