PAUL T. (PETE) WEYRAUCH
HIGHLAND SPRINGS RESIDENT, ARMY CHAIR, VETERANS AFFAIRS GROUP
Born 22 July 1941 in Alpine, Texas. Graduated from USMA with the class of 1963, received an MBA from Tulane University, and after retirement, a Master of Educational Administration from Southwest Texas State University. Military career began with the 2d Battalion, 5th Artillery 175 Gun (SP) (above photo) in Babenhausen, Germany. Additional battery grade assignments included HQ, I Field Force Vietnam Artillery, and 3d Battalion, 6th Artillery (105 How (SP)) in RVN; HQ, Sixth US Army at the Presidio of San Francisco; and HQ US Army Vietnam.
As a field grade officer, served with MASSTER (Modern Army Selected Systems Test, Evaluation & Review, and then 1st Battalion, 78th Field Artillery (155 How (SP) at Fort Hood, TX. Was then assigned as a staff officer in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff Operations and Plans, HQDA, in the Pentagon, followed by command of the 1st Battalion, 5th Field Artillery (155 How (SP)) and Assistant Chief of Staff, G-4 (Logistics), both in the 1st Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Fort Riley, KS. Served as commander of the Division Artillery of the 1st Cavalry Division for 31 months, followed by assignment as the Chief of Staff of the US Army Field Artillery Center at Fort Sill, OK. On promotion to brigadier general, was assigned as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff, Plans and Policy, for Allied Forces Southern Europe in Naples, Italy. Final assignment was Chief of Staff of III Corps and Fort Hood, followed by retirement June 1991 after 28 years of active duty. Personal awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal with ā€œVā€ device, Bronze Star Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters. Also received the Mississippi Magnolia Cross for work with the Mississippi Army National Guard. Authorized to wear the Parachutist Badge and the Army Staff Identification Badge.
