Come discover the wonderful world of books, DVD’s and more at the
Highland Springs Book Nooks!
We have 2 Book Nook locations……one off the Magnolia Place living room (1st floor level of Magnolia neighborhood) and on the terrace level of Crestview Terrace in the Hillcrest neighborhood. Each of our locations primarily needs volunteers to serve as Librarians. Librarians work an assigned morning or afternoon 6 days of the week (none on Sunday) and spend an hour every week. They check in books that have been returned and read one or two sections of the shelves. “Reading the shelves” means checking that the books in those sections are in alphabetical order, the jackets are all at the same level, making certain that all of the books are in the same category (fiction, nonfiction, large print, etc.), and dusting those shelves.
If a weekly assignment doesn’t work for you then consider being a substitute librarian. Our weekly scheduled librarians reach out to our substitute librarians to fill their vacancy when needed. The best skill needed in our Librarians is the love for the detail!
Additionally, there are a number of “back office” volunteer needs that make our Book Nooks run so efficiently. These opportunities are periodically available for individuals. Come join our library volunteers and discover the wonderful world of books, DVD’s and more at the Highland Springs Book Nooks!
