EMBRACE LEARNING & ACTIVITIES – Are you an artist, musician, singer, dancer, speaker, lecturer, sports person or entertainer? Do you have a skill, hobby or interest that you would like to share? Volunteer to teach your talents to your fellow residents or lead one of the many activity groups.
EVENT BRIGADE – The Event Brigade volunteers are essential contributors to the successful production of events, activities and dining by providing support for activities here at Highland Springs. Depending on the event, we need skills to be hosts/greeters, registrars, check-in attendants, event decoration preparation/storage and even silverware rolling. Often walking or standing are needed as well as weekend assistance.
GENERAL OFFICE SUPPORT activities such as: stuffing brochures, addressing birthday greetings, Priority List Newsletter mailings, making copies, filing, and more. A few of these assignments can be performed in a residents’ apartment.
MAKING PHONE CALLS to other residents to schedule, confirm or re-schedule a variety of appointments, reservations, etc. Mystery shopping for quality control is also another opportunity. Must have a clear, easy to understand voice over the phone.
MONITORING COMMUNITY COMMUNICATIONS by updating bulletin boards, elevator signs as well as other signage on campus. Delivering of small package, stuffing cubbies, apartment shelf delivery of notices and shopping cart distribution are also included. Being able to move around and navigate the campus is essential.
TV PRODUCTION – Highland Springs has a dedicated community TV station – Channel 80 or “HSTV” – which is part of our basic Spectrum cable service. There are opportunities in pre-production, production, post-production roles such as videographer, editor or scheduler. Skills and talent are always appreciated but training is available for the right flexible volunteer.
OTHER SKILLS – if your skills aren’t challenged yet, then let us know what skills you wish to share. Examples include: holiday & other decorating, needle & thread sewing, woodworking, technology operating systems, graphic artist or designer, etc.
