FMW User’s Guide

The Find my Way (FMW) Home page will direct you to another building or to any Room in Independent Living. Information about the Campus, Room Facilities, and Outdoor Features are accessable.
Features of the Home page are listed below:
- Access to the many displays and direction finding tools are provided by pages listed in three ways:
- A full list of all pages is provided at the At-a-glance Tab which can be accessed on the Menu or by Tapping on the At-a-Glance Icon.
- A Full Menu with Tabs listed at the top of this paragraph will appear at the top of the Home Page on devices wide enough to show it. Tap on the Tabs to drop down a list of pages in that category.
- The Drop-Down Menu appears as 3-dots at the top right of narrow displays. Tap the dots to see the same Tabs in the Menu listed above. Tap any of those to see the user Pages.
- Icons near the center of the page will link you directly to the eight most-used pages for finding routes and features across the campus.
- The Help Tab (and/or Icon) provides useful information, including a User’s Guide, Answers to FAQ’s, a listing of recent changes to the FMW Site, as well as a nifty way to add a FMW Icon to the home screen of your device.
Tapping on the Find My Way Logo that appears in the upper left edge of each FMW page will return you to the Home Page.
At-a-Glance presents a list of links that take you directly to any User Page on the site. Links are organized under
- Campus: Maps and data of the Campus,
- Buildings: Instruction to go from one building to another indoors or outdoors
- Rooms: Detailed Maps and Directions to find your way to all public rooms.
- Help: Instructions/Information on the use of the FMW Site
After your search, you can return to the At-a-Glance Page by clicking the Back Arrow (<) on your browser’s Address Bar.
The Campus Tab consists of five pages with general information about the buildings, their interconnections, and exits.
- The CAMPUS MAP will acquaint you with the Buildings and their respective locations.
- The PARKING MAP shows the letter designation of each parking lot in relation to the campus buildings.
- EXIT DOOR NUMBER MAP graphically shows exits to all buildings on a map.
- EXIT NUMBER TABLE provides a table with building and level (floor) information for each numbered exit.
- OUTDOOR DESTINATIONS allows you to select typical sidewalk routs between Neighborhoods
NOTE: FMW campus maps are oriented with North at the bottom of the page. There will be a North Arrow on each FMW map to remind you of this convention.
The CAMPUS MAP provides a view of the entire campus, color coded, along with a list of building names, their abbreviated Letter Codes, and their Mailing Address’. Interconnections between buildings are shown on the map, identifying the floor level(s) to/from each building.
NOTE: North is at the bottom of the page – locate the Main Gate for guidance
All Parking Lots and Parking Garages are shown, along with their Letter Codes on the Full Campus map.
EXIT DOOR NUMBER MAP shows on the Campus Map, all exit door numbers in red.
NOTE: Main entrances are not all numbered
EXIT NUMBER TABLE provides a table showing the Door Number, Building Name, and Floor Level on which each Numbered Door can be accessed.or Level. .
Tables/Lists have been designed for Mobile Device displays including left/right scrolling to fully see all columns and a search function to shorten the number of displayed rows.
OUTDOOR DESTINATIONS shows the location of places often visited by residents on the Campus Map. At the top is an alphabetical list of the Destination Names and Numbers.
- Tapping on any Name or Number will show a photo of the Destination.
- Hovering on a Number on the Map or on the List will ‘pop-up’ the Name/Number of that Outdoor Feature.
Path maps and directions between buildings are presented, along with helpful data, in the five Menu Sub-Tabs shown below.
- Building to Building searches will produce Maps and Directions between user selected buildings.
- Building Links shows a graphical display of the connections between neighboring buildings
- Since Willow Ridge (WR) connects to each of its three connecting buildings on a different floor. Willow Ridge Maps shows the paths to each adjacent building using either Elevator 1 or Elevator 2.
- Outdoor Routes shows typical sidewalk paths to go from one Neighborhood to another.
- Building Data Table lists the age and capacity of all Campus Buildings
Selecting this Tab (or the Building-to-Building Icon on the Home Page) provides instructions for a route between starting and destination buildings. This is done by first:
- Selecting the starting building from the drop-down list on the left, and
- Selecting the destination building from the list on the right.
Then, pressing the GET MAP & DIRECTIONS button, you will be directed to a new page that includes:
- A banner headline with the origin and destination listed in red font.
- A schematic map of the campus with the requested path overlaid in black.
- A step-by-step list of instructions to proceed thru each interconnecting building.
The floor-to-floor indoor interconnections (or links) between every building in the Cypress, Hillcrest and Magnolia Neighborhoods are shown on a simplified map. Using this map, you can visualize which floors you will use as you follow your route between rooms, buildings, and neighborhoods.
Willow Ridge connects to Hillcrest Clubhouse only on the second floor; to Pecan Grove only on the first floor, and to Edgewater Place only on the Terrace Level. As you traverse thru the building, Elevator 2 provides the simplest path to connect between floors.
This page shows detailed paths on each floor from either elevator to the building that connects on that floor.
Outdoor routes between Independent Living Neighborhoods and to Fountain View are selected on this page. Only six key Outdoor Routes between Buildings are shown here as you will soon develop your own outdoor paths.
- Fountain View to/from the Hillcrest and Magnolia Neighborhoods.
- Three paths from Hillcrest Clubhouse to/from Magnolia and Eastside Neighborhoods
- Uptown Park to/from the Magnolia Neighborhood
This page shows a Table of Independent Living and Continuing Care Buildings: listing the year each was built and the number of apartments in each.
Tables/Lists have been designed for Mobile Device displays including left/right scrolling to fully see all columns and a search function to shorten the number of displayed rows.
These Pages will help you find information about all Public Rooms and generate directions to a selected room from any building.
The Tabs/Icons that begin with the word “Find” will produce displays consisting of a Floor Plan that includes the sought Room and instructions on how to progress from entering the target building to the room. Also provided will be a Map of the path between the starting and sought Buildings with turn-by-turn written instructions.
Find Room search Tabs are provided for different Categories–All Rooms, –Food & Drink Rooms, –Meeting/ClassRooms, and –Medical Services Rooms. In addition, the Room Names and Categories Table can be sorted to list either Room Names or Categories alphabetically.

The Find All Rooms tab will provide you directions to any Public Room on the Campus. Find Rooms pages will first ask you to select a Starting Building and then the Room to which you seek directions. A display will then be constructed that includes:
- A headline listing the start and stop selections, and the floor level of the destination room.
- A short statement to guide you to the room, once having entered the target building.
- The destination room will be shaded in Red on a floor plan of the building area in which it is located (A North Arrow is provided on each floor plan).
- A route to the destination area shown on Building-to-Building map.
- A turn-by-turn list of instructions for the route you have chosen, followed by a repeat of the path inside the destination building.
The Find Food and Drink Tab will provide you directions to all Public Rooms on the Campus with Dining Services. You will first be asked to select a Starting Building and then the Room to which you seek directions from offered lists. A display will then be constructed that includes:
- A headline listing the start and stop selections, and the floor level of the destination room.
- A short statement to guide you to the room, once having entered the target building.
- The destination room will be shaded in Red on a floor plan of the building area in which it is located (A North Arrow is provided on each floor plan).
- A route to the destination area shown on Building-to-Building map.
- A turn-by-turn list of instructions for the route you have chosen, including a repeat of the detailed path instructions inside the destination building
The Find Meeting Rooms/Classrooms Tab will provide you directions to Public Rooms that can be scheduled for Resident Functions. You will first be asked to select a Starting Building and then the Room to which you seek directions from offered lists. A display will then be constructed that includes:
- A headline listing the start and stop selections, and the floor level of the destination room.
- A short statement to guide you to the room, once having entered the target building.
- The destination room will be shaded in Red on a floor plan of the building area in which it is located (A North Arrow is provided on each floor plan).
- A route to the destination area shown on Building-to-Building map.
- A turn-by-turn list of instructions for the route you have chosen, including a repeat of the detailed path instructions inside the destination building
The Find Medical Services Tab will provide you directions to Public Rooms associated with Medical Services. You will first be asked to select a Starting Building and then the Room to which you seek directions from offered lists. A display will then be constructed that includes:
- A headline listing the start and stop selections, and the floor level of the destination room.
- A short statement to guide you to the room, once having entered the target building.
- The destination room will be shaded in Red on a floor plan of the building area in which it is located (A North Arrow is provided on each floor plan).
- A route to the destination area shown on Building-to-Building map.
- A turn-by-turn list of instructions for the route you have chosen, including a repeat of the detailed path instructions inside the destination building
Selecting the Room Names and Categories Tab produces a Table that lists all Pubic Rooms along with their user Categories and Building & Floor Level Locations. The table can be alphabetized by any of the four columns by Tapping on the Title (in the color shaded box at the top of the table).
Entering a key word into the Search Box will shorten the list to show only the rows that have that word in them.
Help Pages provide information and instructions that will help you fully use each of the Find My Way Tools. As the Tabs below imply, this ranges from instructions on quick ways to reach the site to changes/improvements made to the site, to a comprehensive FMW Users Guide. As detailed on the FMW Access PageTab below, FMW may be reached in several ways:
- From the Menu Help Drop-Down List accessable on any page at any time
- Choosing the HELP icon on the Home Page
- Selecting any Title listed under the Help category on the At-a-Glance Page, or from the links provided under “Shortcuts and More…” on the Home Page.
The HELP Icon on the Home page is linked directly to this Help Guide ‘landing page’. Info on the Help Guide explains the function of each page listed under the Menu/Help Tab – and links to each sub-Tab listed immediately above. You can get to all the help Tabs via those links or by simply by using the menu Tab.
The Find My Way (FMW) Access page gives instructions for all the ways you can access the Find My Way site. This includes adding a shortcut/bookmark icon to your device’s home screen for quick access, using the QR codes available on a number of related resources, and entering via links from MyErickson.
Instructions for adding an Icon to your Apple or Android smart phone or tablet are provided on this page. The instructions will generate an Icon which you can rename to suit you that will load onto your Home Screen and move to any position/screen you wish. Tapping this icon will immediately link you to FMW.
NOTE: These instructions are best followed by working from a printed copy or while reading the web instructions from a second device.
This page provides descriptions of the most recent updates, improvements, fixes, and additions to the Find My Way site. Contacts for addressing problems or questions are the last listing – at the bottom of the page.
Common questions about using FMW are listed before (or just above) the resolution(s) to the issue.

The FMW User’s Guide provides instructions on the use of each page of the Find My Way (FMW) site, and what you will learn from it. Tabs in the FMW User’s Guide exactly match the Pages shown in the menu and include all the Pages listed on the At-a-Glance Page.
The FMW Menu will always be at the top of the page. If the device you are using does not show the whole Menu (in Red), you must first tap on the “Menu and 3-dots” located on the top right corner of the page. Tap on any Tab/Sub-Tab listed to link you directly to that page.
Tapping on the Tabs/Sub-Tabs in this Guide will produce instructions on the use and operation of each FMW page found in the main Menu.
