Captain James C. (“Jim” or “Doc”) Heald, MD, USAF, 1962-1964, Doctor, Soesterberg Air Base, Zeist, Holland.
Learned to speak Dutch while based there and was known as “the American doctor who spoke Dutch”. One close friend and colleague was Dr. Hans Staakmaans. Enjoyed the cheese markets and Keukenhof Gardens (tulips as far as the eye can see!) Bought a motorbike while there and toured all over Western Europe.
