Veterans Memorial Park
The momentum for the Veterans Group formed in 2016 was provided by residents who were part of the original four building community. One of the residents, Rosian Zerner, worked on getting the background of several members of the military, including flag officers, who lived in the four original buildings. They were responsible for organizing the Group. It was an effort that not all the Erickson Senior Living communities had undertaken. The Veterans Affairs Group thanks you for visiting this site.
There was support from Highland Springs staff members whose families had a history of service to the military. With the gracious acceptance of the Executive Director in response to the VAG request for the approval of a dedicated area in the community for the development of a Memorial Park, the Group took over the process. While that blossomed, the Group took on the task of placing the US Flag displays on national holidays. The Veterans Affairs Group has responsibility for the storage and maintenance of the flags. We also plan the programs for Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
When the community doubled in size with an influx of military Veterans, there was a swelling of interest and support for the Group. Now that more buildings have been added to the community, the Veterans Affairs Group is in place and is looking forward to growing in services to the community by adding members to the Group !
