Honor Flight is a network of volunteers established for the express purpose of getting as many WW II Veterans as possible to Washington, DC to view the World War II Memorial. Earle Morse, a physician’s assistant from Ohio, originally set up Honor Flight in 2004. Its mission has now expanded to include all veterans.
Honor Flight DFW is dedicated to ensuring that every veteran has the opportunity to experience our nation’s gratitude firsthand.
Honor Flight DFW (HFDFW) was established in September 2008 to bring this wonderful effort to the Dallas/Fort Worth/North Texas area. The first flight departed DFW in 2009 and, to date, Honor Flight DFW has flown over 2,000 WW II, Korean and Vietnam Veterans to Washington DC. Honor Flights are scheduled regularly with the latest being number 62 in May 2026. Several veterans from Highland Springs have gone on these trips.
The all-expense paid, overnight trip to Washington, DC includes visits to the WW II, Korean, Vietnam, Marine (Iwo Jima), Navy, Air Force Memorials, and Arlington Cemetery.
Our older warriors could not make this journey without the dedicated support of Honor Flight DFW Guardians. Each Veteran is assigned a Guardian to ensure his/her safety. Additionally, a team of volunteer medical professionals travel on each flight.
